Hudson in "Raven Odyssey" at Perseverance Theatre,
Juneau, Alaska
I was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, and have performed
as an actress and storyteller throughout Alaska, as well as
in New York and at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the
American Indian in Washington DC.
I graduated from the University of Alaska Southest, studying
theater and communication. My awards include first place and
second place in the All-Alaska Native Student Oratory Contest
in Anchorage, Alaska.
I learned Chilkat and Ravenstail weaving from my mother,
noted Northwest Coast weaver and regalia designer Clarissa
Hudson. She and my father, Bill Hudson, both create artworks
— paintings, collages, sculptures and performance art
— inspired by the art and culture of Alaska and the
Northwest Coast.
Besides living most of life in Alaska, I spent several years in the American Southwest, and in New Orleans, Louisianna,
where I studied mask making under noted mask designer Michael
Stark.
