Hello, I’m Elvis, and I’m all shook up! No seriously. I hear my name comes from a famous human, but it suits me too, and though the famous human is gone now, I’m still here awaiting a new home. I’m a five-year-old canine, with some great German shepherd and Labrador mixed blood in my veins. Which means I’m not a small guy, but weigh in around 60 pounds or so. Though large, I’m a total teddy bear in nature. I’m very loyal and affectionate, and am always eager to please my humans. Continued...
Which is why I’m still puzzled about how I got here, living at the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs animal shelter. I am a happy-go-lucky kind of dog, but my previous human didn’t seem to appreciate that or me. Things got bad, and though I tried to please him, my old human forgot to take care of me. One day a nice man in a uniform named Chris came to our home, put a leash on me, and took me away. Though I was sad to leave my human, I was so glad to finally have some good food and water, and consistent care. The shelter folks make sure of that and my life, though lonely right now, has improved since I’ve been here. I’m steadily gaining weight; I was way too thin before. I’m feeling pretty good!
If you may be my new human family, here are a few things you need to know about me. I’m beautiful in spirit and good on a leash. I’m suited for a family with older human kids, or a family with no children at all. Not that I’m aggressive, but my size may be too much for wee toddlers. Oh, and I chase cats. Yes, I know, darn it all! A bad habit that feline thing, perhaps can be broken, but for now that is my single vice. Don’t we all have a few vices? At least I’m honest about it, right?? I have beautiful honey-gold eyes, and a golden coat with black/brown trim. A really handsome male dog, that’s me!
So how about it? Can you give a joyful mixed mutt like me, Elvis, a chance? If you say “yes”, then here I am, over at the shelter on Cloman Blvd., just off Piedra Road. Give them a call, 970-731-4771 and tell them “I would like to visit Elvis from the Pagosa Daily Post article”. I’ll be looking for you with my usual good looks and happy nature lighting up the kennels. |
